FUN doesn’t even begin to describe the Power2Switch holiday dinner party at BellyQ in the West Loop! In fact, I am not even sure BellyQ was ready for the P2S team. We ended up taking over their private event room, which was super nice of them to offer to us since no one had booked it for the evening. The big surprise was that the room, next to our dinning space, had a karaoke set up… good thing we are a close knit group of 8, so basically family, right!?!
Now, I am not sure if you have ever been to BellyQ before, but the food was absolutely delicious. Big shout out to Suzanne for picking out the restaurant and for coordinating with the chefs on the menu. Our family style menu consisted of fried chicken, duck, short rib, ceviche and more. I’ll just share a picture of the menu:
The most popular dish on the menu was the fried chicken. I am surprised there wasn’t a throw down in the middle of the dinning room over the last piece (okay… I am exaggerating). However, Phil enjoyed it so much he ordered another round for himself… okay, not really, it was for the entire team (it is the holidays after all)! Seriously though, the fried chicken was amazing! It has become a regular topic of conversation around the office, especially by Seyi, Phil and Jamail so I am sure BellyQ will be seeing them again soon.
After stuffing our faces, we stepped into the other room for some dessert. I was so full I didn’t get a chance to try the donuts and ice cream, but heard they were quite the treat and a wonderful compliment to our meal. While snacking on dessert, the hostess showed us how to use the remote for Karaoke and browse through the selection of music. Phil and Seyi stepped up to the mic first to share some heart felt words with the team about the importance of celebrating milestones, accomplishments and family. They followed up their speeches with some very fitting gifts for everyone based off their quirks. Just to give you a glimpse of the hilariously awesome gifts: Jake received sparkling lotion since he always uses Phil’s lotion from across the desk, Victoria received an old school alarm clock since she isn’t a morning person (but does an awesome job putting on her game face for our customers), and Jamail received the Hobbit since he had never heard of the series before (REALLY, not even joking).
The room was full of laughter and the volume in the room grew even more when the Karaoke started! The song picking and singing happened by couple… oh except, the highlight of our Karaoke shenanigans was when Jamail did a solo of “Baby got Back”. Other songs we indulged in were Bohemian Rhapsody, Hungry Like the Wolf, Girls Just Want to Have Fun, and we went out with a bang (as a team effort of course) with Piano Man. As I said before, I don’t think BellyQ was ready for us… good thing we were able to close the door to the room.
All joking aside, the Power2Switch team rocks… sure I am a little biased because I have been part of the team for the past 5 months, but they truly are an amazing group of people or I should say family!
Since this is my last post, I would like to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU to everyone on the Power2Switch team for making me feel like part of the family and for an awesome experience over the past 5 months! I will miss you all, but think of you every time I listen to Queen (which if you know me at all, will be all the time)!
